The Australian Skilled – Nominated Visa (subclass 190).
This Australian state sponsored visa is for skilled workers who are nominated by a state or territory. A visa holder can live and work permanently anywhere in Australia as a Permanent Residents.
Eligibility Criteria
- nominate an occupation that matches your skills and qualifications and is on the relevant Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) OR the Short-term Skilled occupation List (STSOL)
- have a suitable skills assessment for the occupation?
- meet the points test pass mark of 65 points (as of 1 July 2018)
- be nominated by a state or territory government agency
- Lodge an EOIand be invited to apply
- be aged between 18 and 44 inclusive

Point score Requirement
You must be able to meet the points score on your invitation letter. This score will be 65 points (as of 1 July 2018) or more.

State Sponsored Visa Application Process
The Skilled – Nominated Visa (subclass 190) is based on a three stage application process:
- Stage 1 (Skills Assessments)
The first stage of the application process involves completing a skills assessment with the relevant government body. The Skills assessments enables the government to take decision whether your skills are fulfilling the requirement to practice your skills in Australia.
- Stage 2 (Expression of Interest)
After receiving the positive skills assessment outcome, you will need to submit an Expression of Interest through SkillSelect. You can do this in or outside Australia. You will then also need to apply for state sponsorship with an Australian state / territory. This will dictate that you meet the sponsorship requirements and have work experience in a position listed on one of their State Migration Plans. If you are nominated by a state or territory agency, you will be invited to apply for the visa. If you are invited, you have 60 calendar days to apply for the visa.
